Pics from the past week

The first night...they all got IN-N-Out tee-shirts! (typical tourists)

This was around 11 o' clock pm. Still on the road...

Minnie's birthday dinner :)

Brother and sister...so sweet! :)

Shortly after this picture, Mickey starting streeeeetching. While he was asleep. He's born for gymnastics.

In front of a REALLY good seafood/korean food restaurant in LA.

Another picture of the tourists.

Our not-so-five-minute hike.

At the Suns game, which *sniffle* none of the kids went to.

Dinner with the Shanks at Joe's Real BBQ.

Brett hanging out with the kids. And loosing at a game of pool.

After dinner with the Macs and Ryan. Fun times...

Playing "Wu-shu-shu-shu." We all got REALLY into it.

It was a game of slicing, smashing, cutting, and chopping the other people. More pics from the party (thank you Shanks for hosting!):

Needless to say, we had so much fun with you guys! Hope you come out again!

Twinkle and Minnie.

"so long, farewell!"

the guys left bright and early on Sunday morning. well, they definitely left early. but, maybe not so bright. who would be bright after a week of super-duper-late-nights? i think the earliest they went to bed was 11:30 pm. needless to say, the week was crazy fun, crazy busy, and just plain crazy.

will post some pics to recap the week...later...for now, i'm going back to school...

Birthdays are for:

*Note: this post was never posted! somehow we over looked it and went on posting about other things. Since this blog is as much for us as it is for others, we thought we'd post it here and then move it to its correct chronological place.*

....Flowers from family....

.....cards from friends near and far.....

...phone calls with warm wishes of happy birthdays....

....phone calls full of little girls' giggles and smiles and ' i miss you's', and webkinz ....

....dinner with friends...

Gifts....those you can see.....

and those you can't.....

Counting your blessings........

and feelings of great thankfulness to God for all he has provided and given this past year.....and most importantly for the gift of a Savior, whose need for we never outgrow, no matter how many birthdays we celebrate.

From the siblings:
TWINKLE: happy birthday, minnie. i love you bunches!
CHIP: i can't believe you're ten. double-digits. :)
MICKEY: happy birthday. i can't believe that you're 5 + 5 [groans from Twinkle]! i love you so much!

"five minutes?"

This afternoon, we decided to go on a hike. after packing some mayo and turkey sandwiches, bbq chips, and some granola bars, we went with the Edsons (Mrs., Jenny, and Chris) up this mountain that a certain person thought would take only "five minutes." The guys started ahead to scale it. Jenny, Minnie, and I came behind. Little mountain? Tiny hill?

Ha.

Ha. ("Ow, my knees!!!")

Half an hour later, we reached the top. Victory! The moms were behind us, yakking it up. When we saw them way way way way down on the trail, we decided to go down and meet them for lunch. However, we lost sight of them. When we next saw them, they were at the top.

Ha.

Ha.

Mickey was the only one laughing.

To make a long story short, we climbed up to them and had a WONDERFUL lunch. Sandwiches have never tasted better. Neither have chips. Or granola bars. Then, we climbed (and slid and fell and ran) down the "tiny hill" that would only take "five minutes." Finally, we reached the bottom and Mickey, Minnie, and Chip decided to jump in the pool.

End of story.

the birthday song

the Mom received the royal treatment tonight for her birthday..

the boys are in town

hi all!

this past weekend has been quite an adventure. we picked up Bryan and Brett at the airport, grabbed some dinner at In-N-Out, then headed to LA! we had a great time--ate lots of food (korean bbq, seafood, breakfast buffet) and played lots of volleyball. well, Bryan and Brett did. At least, they tried to; they lost to some seventy-year-olds. "humble pie, coming right up!"

here are some pics from our FABULOUS weekend:

Minnie and Her Little Buddy

So since our arrival here in the great south west, we have enjoyed many sweet surprises--the church, the weather, the quick-developing friendships....and some of us have acquired a little fan club. Little in every respect. Except in energy.

There is a 3 year old little boy in our church that has found Minnie to be one of his favorite people. And this little boy is a passionate fellow. He plays intensely, lives passionately...and drops like a puppy at the end of the day.

Recently after church we were going to go out to lunch with this family. The little boy, C., asked if he could ride with Minnie. His mom told him we didn't have a car seat. Oh how his face fell! He walked away slowly, head hung low as the moms continued to discuss the car situation.

Turns out the moms decided Minnie could ride with C in his car.

As he walked back to his dad, he said , oh so sadly, "I just want to ride with Minnie." The dad knew of the new car situation and said , "Hey buddy, Minnie is going to ride with you, in our car."

He stopped.

He looked at his dad again to make sure he heard correctly....trying to wrap his brain around this fortuitous turn of events.

And then he let out a whoop with both fists raised in victory......whoooo hoooooo!!!

Quite a little fan club. We are all trying not to be jealous.
